Super Smash Bros Brawl Marathon
This marathon was crazy! We touched on almost every aspect of the game for about 8 hours. I only consider a marathon to be a least 8 hours long; and we will have many more game marathons in the future.

12:20pm: Started playing Dewy’s Adventure because the guests were late for the marathon.  This game is only a game you can play in small doses.

12:39pm: Got to a boss in Dewy’s Adventure; and I am getting extremely frustrated figuring out how to kill it.  I think I get a walkthrough online.  Not many of them though, actually none.  So I decided just to try figuring it out on my own, yeah, like that will work.  I’m thinking I will be here for a while.  Where is Greg and Andy?  Save me from this overly cute aggravating game.

1:24pm:
Killed that stupid fire boss; checked the Wii message bored and it gave me a hint. Andy just called and said he and Greg would be leaving now.

1:51pm: Finally here! It’s time to brawl.  I’m just setting up controller settings.  Just talking about how on the classic controller settings your thumbs touch sometimes when you’re using double analog; fun times, I miss my friends.  Cut scenes are great! The only thing is, is that they are not natively wide screen.  This is a little bit of a letdown considering all the time that went into this game.  But for those of you that think I’m anal, you’re probably right.

2:00pm: Controls seem simple enough.  Cut scenes are incredibly well done.  We finished the first level of the story mode.  I’m pressing buttons that is screwing up the gameplay, Greg and Andy or making fun of me.

2:10pm: It’s time for Pit!  The story mode is terrific not too much voice over though, for any character so far.  Pit is a fun character to play.  “They should make a new Kid Icarus for Wii” says Greg.  Which would be nice; seeing as how fun he is to control, and how cool an angel with swords is.  Cool platforming elements in the story mode and great graphics, for any system.  The only time, generally there would be voice over is an in game taunt, and even then most characters don’t speak.  Some would argue that’s just its charm.

2:40pm: It’s cool that you can re-watch any cut scene you have watched so far, in the menus.

3:00pm: We tried plugging in a Wavebird and it shook during the process the Wii and turned it off.  We thought that the auto save would save us, but unfortunately, we did not reach the menu that would trigger the auto save.  Right now we are playing the Diddy Kong/Fox level, for the second time.  The only way to run is to quickly tap the left analog stick, if you don’t do it quick enough it will default to a walk.  I have no idea, why, you would need to walk in a fast paced fighter like brawl.  After a little bit of chat about the subject we found, that apparently, you have special attacks only queued by a run and others by a walk.  Thanks for that Greg!

3:41pm: Getting kind of tired of the story mode already.  But I’m pretty excited for Links part now.  It’s got the dark world theme music from A Link to The Past.  The gameplay is getting very repetitive but at least there’s so many different attacks and variations them.  We’ll see how long that aspect of the game keeps me busy.  Rob the robot is evil in this game!  Come on, he was the best part of the NES.

4:00pm: After we finish up Samus’ level, we are on to some 4 player versus.  That would be cool if there was Co-op story mode online, but maybe not since there is no voice chat.

4:32pm: Played about a half hour of 4 player versus, I lost mostly, but my buddy was whipping some serious but.  Good Job!  Played a couple of Greg’s created levels, pretty cool.  I will have to try out the level creator by the end of this marathon.

5:10pm: Ordered pizza, and going to try the online soon.  Just checking out target smash, and some of the cool replays that you can download that people have done.  Also you download one map, picture and/or replay a day but not save them.

6:23pm: Just finished eating.  Now we started playing some online matches.  You apparently can only change online game time with friends.  A little bit of lag, but it’s manageable.

6:37pm: Level editor is pretty cool.  Three different level sets each with their own different pieces and all have music to select from different games.

7:52pm: Still just working on the story mode.  My favorite three characters so far are Meta-knight, Pit and Link.  Some of the favorites within the crowd at the brawl marathon are Snake, Lucario and Mario.  My little buddy thought Lucario is a good character to play.  When I played him I thought it was hard, maybe I just need more practice.

8:01pm: Everyone is gone now.  I had a great time and so did everyone else.  Thanks to all of you that came and made this a brawl to end them all.
